Wow. Woop dee doo.
I look back and am a bit embarrassed by how BORING my idea was. In my own defense, I wanted to make something that each child could participate in/contribute to...and I found 17 ingredients so each child could add his/her own baggie to the bowl. And- for goodness sake, I had a 4 month old at the time!
New semester, new year, new idea.
This time we made an American classic: Peanut Butter and Jelly sammiches.
Now, you might not think this sounds much more fun than the Trail Mix, but I assure you, it was.
First of all, each child got to smear their own PB and J. Woo hoo!
Then we talked about where PB comes from, and which food group it falls into.
Then I led us all in singing (read: made a complete fool of myself) the Peanut Butter and Jelly song:
First you take the peanuts
And you crunch 'em,
You crunch 'em
First you take the peanuts
And you crunch 'em,
You crunch 'em
For your peanut, peanut butter
And jelly
Peanut, peanut butter
And jelly
Then you take the grapes
And you squish 'em,
You squish 'em
Then you take the grapes
And you squish 'em,
You squish 'em
For your peanut, peanut butter
And jelly
Peanut, peanut butter
And jelly
Then you take the bread
And you spread it,
You spread it
Then you take the bread
And you spread it,
You spread it
For your peanut, peanut butter
And jelly
Peanut, peanut butter
And jelly
Then you take your sandwich
And you eat it,
You eat it
Then you take your sandwich
And you eat it,
You eat it
'Cause its good, peanut butter
And jelly
Good, peanut butter
And jelly
First you take the peanuts
And you crunch 'em,
Then you take the grapes
And you squish 'em,
Then you take the bread
And you spread it,
Then you take your sandwich
And you eat it
'Cause its good, peanut butter
And jelly
Good, peanut butter
And jelly!

You are too cute! Love it!!!
